The Umuahia South chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Abia State has adopted former Governor of the state and the current senator, representing Abia central in the National Assembly, Chief Theodore Orji as their sole candidate for the 2019 senatorial election in 2019.
The Umuahia south PDP made the position known during a visit to the council headquarters at Apumiri Ubakala in Umuahia, by the State chairman of the party, Chief Johnson Onuigbo and members of the state working committee of the PDP.
The motion for adoption was moved by the Chairman of Abia Warriors Football Club, Pastor Emeka Inyama and seconded by a former Commissioner for Finance in the State, Dr Ndukwe Adindu.
Speaking, founding chairman of PDP in Abia state, Chief Tony Ukasanya, described Senator Orji as a true leader who always stood for equity and justice, and assured that the people of Umuahia south would massively vote for him to enable him consolidate on the gains he had made so far.
In his remarks, the PDP chairman in the state, Chief Johnson Onuigbo assured that the PDP-led administration would continue to provide dividends of democracy to the people of the state and called on them to support Governor Okezie Ikpeazu-led government as he worked towards developing the state for the benefit of all.
According to Onuigbo, “There is no other party that has given Nigerians dividends of democracy than PDP. You have seen what Governor Okezie Ikpeazu is doing in Abia today. Almost every part of the state has felt democracy dividends.
“I’m assuring you that the PDP government will not relent in its mandate to transform the state. Governor Ikpeazu has done well in the provision of infrastructural amenities.
“You can see the massive road construction going on in some parts of the state. Aba, which is the economic hub of state has been given a facelift.
“Umuahia, the state capital, is being transformed, with the state government embarking on many developmental projects.
“PDP government will continue to give the citizenry quality leadership. I urge you to support PDP in the forthcoming general elections in the country”.
