Enugu State Governor, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi has charged the people of the State to partner with his administration towards rapid development of the State.
The governor gave the charge on Wednesday while commissioning a road constructed by the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, Peace Group of Companies, Evang. Dr. Samuel Maduka Onyishi at Emene, in the State.
Ugwuanyi in his speech before commissioning the road said it was remarkable that “this ceremony is coming just a few months after we commissioned the 1.6 kilometre road at Amukwa Nsukka, in Nsukka Local Government Area, which was constructed by the same person, my brother Dr. Sam Maduka Onyishi.”
He added that “this gesture is undoubtedly a welcome development in complementing the infrastructural development and urbanization agenda of this government across the State.
“Therefore, in a very special way, we commend the Chief Executive officer of PMT for his vision and benevolence in constructing this road.
“We urge all well meaning individuals in this State to support this vision by emulating this example and also endeavour to sponsor development projects in their respective communities and areas of operation for the benefit of our people.”
Earlier in his address, Onyishi had said, “for the purposes of history, Enugu is the birth place of PMT, and the people are our earliest stakeholders who believed in us, stood by us and weaned us to the greater Nigeria and ultimately, to the world at large.
“Therefore, whatever we can do to improve the life of Enugu people, we shall not hesitate to do. It is only natural in our thinking that the greater chunk of our charity works, our core social responsibility projects, are undertaken in parts of Enugu for the use and good of our people.
“May we also take the pleasure to inform His Excellency that the mustard seed which has become PMT, has grown into a virtual conglomerate, with many industries and diverse products, some of which shall be unveiled in no distant time.”
