Fresh crisis has unsettled chieftains of the Oshimili North Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) including its teaming supporters in Delta State over Assembly position.
Sources within the Oshimili North PDP told DAILY POST that chieftains of the party in the area have allegedly soiled their hands with bribe takings and ensured a particular candidate; “Mrs. Pat Ajudua” cannot be replaced.
It was gathered that chief Fred Ajudua had few months written the state Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa including party chieftains in the state to allow his wife run for the fourth time as a mark of honour for him having spent so much money to build up the party in Oshimili North.
His letter, insider said, allegedly caused a breach and a seed of discord among party loyalists in the area, who have insisted his wife (Fred Ajudua) cannot go for the fourth time to the House of Assembly.
Mrs. Ajudua, had been representing Oshimili North Constituency at the state House of Assembly for third times; an act described by some of the party faithful as an absurdity and will not be condoned ahead of 2019.
A youth leader of the party in the area, Baldison Okoye told DAILY POST; “Mrs. Ajudua had been in the House for third times, and she said she wants to go back fourth time, we said no, it is really an absurd, and we will not allow that, except other person will go”.
Speaking to DAILY POST, a leader of the party, Chinedu Okonyi said; “It is very unfortunate that since 1999 till date, nobody from the North-North axis, comprising Okpanam, Ugbolu, Atuma-Iga, Akwukwu-Igbo, Anwalo, Illah, Ebu Ukala-Okpuno, has been able to clinch the position apart from Ajudua’s wife, we will not allow such in 2019” disclosing that despite commitment to the growth and development of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) both in the Council area, state and federal levels.
He said; “It is imperative that the Delta State House of Assembly position for 2019 should be given to somebody from the North-North axes in order to give the people sense of belonging, adding “the position has been occupied consistently by the Ibusa person since 1999 till date”.
In a swift reaction, the party publicity secretary in the state, Mr. Michael Ifeanyi told DAILY POST; “We have several petitions against Mrs. Ajudua’s interest for the fourth time, we are studying the petitions, we will ensure the right thing is done for other candidates, everybody will go for primaries,” dispelling as untrue bribery allegations.
