Olisa Metuh fell on his own – Justice Abang

Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday insisted that former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Olisa Metuh, deliberately fell during yesterday’s proceedings of the court.

Recall that Metuh, who is standing trial for allegedly receiving the sum of N400m from the former National Security Adviser, NSA, Col Sambo Dasuki (retd) had slumped while in court yesterday.

But speaking during the resumption of trial on Tuesday, Justice Abang insisted that Metuh’s fall was staged.

The trial judge stated this while correcting an impression created in the submission by a defence lawyer in the case, Tochukwu Onwugbufor (SAN), who urged the court to adjourn the matter due to Metuh’s absence in court on Tuesday.

According to Abang, “The first defendant fell down on his own” when the prosecuting counsel, Sylvanus Tahir, made a submission.

He added, “The court did not direct the doctor to attend to the defendant.

“I would not know the person that directed the doctor to see the defendant when I rose briefly upon hearing that the defendant fell down on his own.

“The court directed him to sit down where he was but he decided to fall down on his own.”
