The Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) Ward Congress Committee in Oyo State, Alhaji Musa Halilu Ahmed has appealed to members of the party who have genuine cases against the just concluded ward congress of the party in the state to approach the ward congress appeal committee with their petitions to prove their cases.
Ahmed made this known on Monday while addressing party members and journalists during a press conference to brief stakeholders on the outcome of his committee’s work at the party’s secretariat, Oke Ado, Ibadan, the state capital.
Present at the briefing were Governor Abiola Ajimobi of the state, State Chairman of the party, Chief Akin Oke; State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Abiodun Odude; House of Representatives members, Hon. Akeem Adeyemi and Hon. Saheed Akinade; Secretary to the state Government, Alhaji Olalekan Alli; Chief of Staff, Dr. Gbade Ojo; Commissioners, Local Government Chairmen, among others.
Ahmed, who described the congress as peaceful and successful, however, urged anyone with petition against the conduct to approach the appeal committee and prove their cases.
The Chairman, while disclosing that his committee had delivered the work as expected, congratulated the state governor, chairman of the party and other members of the party for the success of the congress.
He said “As you are aware, the congress committee, we were here, the same hall, same venue few days ago to tell you the purpose of coming here. After that, I spelled out that we are here to conduct congress, ward congress and later local government congress.
“The results have been here since yesterday. According to the information I have here, all the zones are successful. Furthermore, I am here in my capacity as Chairman of the congress committee to interact with the media and the members of the party that the action we took is in line with the constitution of the party. In this case, there are winners and losers. You are aware that my personal life has been threatened, two of my members were injured but we took our ground.
“I want to thank the governor, Chairman of the party, for making this successful. I congratulate all of us.
“And I want to appeal to our party members that this is not the end of the process. The appeal committee is here.
“If you have any genuine petition, there are procedures. They will look at it critically. I want to thank everybody for having a peaceful conduct. If you have any genuine petition, come forward to prove your case. If you have any case against the congress, come forward”.
Chairperson of the appeal committee, Alhaja Binta Muazu while addressing journalists, promised that her committee was waiting for any of the members who have petition against the conduct of the congress.
Muazu said “we are here till Wednesday. So we want to tell those who have genuine complains to come forward. We just arrived. Immediately we are going to see the Chairman to brief us on what transpired”.
