Tension in Delta APC over alleged irregularities in congresses

There was Palpable tension on Tuesday at the State Secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) along Nnebisi road, Asaba over alleged irregularities.

In the early hours, fierce looking armed policemen barricaded the entrance gate of the secretariat with aggrieved youths’ protesters.

DAILY POST reports that the protesters, mainly youths, were angered by the recently conducted primaries across the state including the killing of a party chieftain somewhere in Ughelli, among others.

But an official of the party, Fredrick Ossai told DAILY POST: “We are resolving the differences, the youths are really angry with the conduct of the primaries, we will resolve the differences”.

Speaking to DIALY POST, the State Police Image Maker, DSP Andrew Aniamaka, reacting to the presence of over 500 policemen, said: “We got hold of unhealthy security report. We will not want breakdown of law and order in the state, hence we drafted our men to the scene to maintain law and order”.

Sources said before and after the conducted primaries in the state, there had been uneasy calm among the party’s youths who allegedly threatened to disrupt the workings of the party if urgent steps were not taken to foil sinister motives oby some of the chieftains to scheme out some persons, especially young aspirants.

But the State Party Chairman,, Prophet Jones Erhue told DAILY POST: “We are already taking care of the alleged irregularities, we have the security agents around the secretariat to forestall law and order, we are determined to take over the state come 2019 general elections, it is normal to have some differences and be settled”.
