A former consultant to the United Nations’ Food and Agricultural Organisation (FAO), Dr. Imuetinyan Igbinnosa, has formally announced intention to run for the Nigerian presidency in 2019.
The 55-year-old indigene of Edo state, who is aspiring to contest on the platform of the Just Party for All Peoples (JPP), said he was divinely called to reverse the history of colonisation that has hampered the country’s development.
Igbinnosa disclosed this while speaking with newsmen in Lagos on Thursday.
He stated that his party would redirect Nigeria back to its divine path neglected by leaders who he said have embraced demons.
“I am running for office of President, Federal Republic of Nigeria in obedience to national call for compatriots to arise and serve under God’s direction and help to build a united, free and peaceful developed Nigeria.
“It is time to change the spirit of our national development: Time for a new generation of intelligent leaders who listen to the Spirit of God to govern with vigour for truth and development. God speaks freedom for all; and wants all citizens to enjoy the one national dream, abundant life.
“We would form a government under God’s covenant to bring about abundant life to all Nigerians.
“Nigerian leaders had moved away from the divine path and embraced the demons.
“Government of JPP would change the spirit of Nigeria’s development and put an end to the suffering of Nigerians,” Igbinnosa said.
