Five suspects arrested in connection with kidnap of wife of Okowa’s aide

Police operatives in warri, “A” Divisional police station in Delta state, on Thursday night recovered a stolen car after a 2 hour gun battle with a gang of armed robbers who were operating around a popular eatery in Okumagba Layout.

DSP,Andrew Aniamaka, police spokesman in the state who confirmed the incident to DAILY POST in Asaba, said, “The armed robbers engaged our men in serious gunbattle ,and in the process, many of them were injured, and escaped, but we recovered the car used in the operation, it was abandoned.”

DSP Aniamaka disclosed that five suspects were on Thursday arrested in connection with the kidnap of Mrs Okeme,wife of the special Adviser to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa on Labour Matters, Mr,Mike Okeme, but was subsequently released after few days,adding that the suspects were currently under going interrogation at the state CID .

He gave the names of the suspects as follows: Chucks frank, Stanley Oredeh, Kelvin martins, Lucky Mbah, and John Job, adding that the suspects would be charged to court on completion of investigation.

Recall that Mrs Okeme was abducted by heavily armed men around Ogbeke square in Asaba recently, but was released few days later after alleged ransom was paid by her family.

Speaking further on activities of fraudsters and kidnappers, DSP Aniamaka disclosed that four inter-state kidnap suspects were last Thursday arrested in Asaba, and are currently being detained for further investigation.

He said that the armed robbers upon interrogation confessed to have been responsible for the kidnap of many prominent persons in the state as they will be charged to court on completion of investigation.
