Four killed as troops battle herdsmen in Benue

No fewer than four armed herdsmen have been killed in a gun battle with troops of the 72 battalion in Benue State on Monday.

DAILY POST gathered that the herdsmen, numbering over 20 had attacked Yogbo village in Guma local government area of the state, burning down several houses.

However, the Nigerian troops responded swiftly and engaged the attackers in a gun duel.

A source told this reporter that four of the attackers were gunned down while others escaped with bullet wounds.

The attack came barely 24 hours after four policemen serving with the Benue State Command were killed when suspected gunmen attacked Anyibe community in Logo LGA of the state.

Meanwhile, the state command PRO, ASP Moses Yamu, could not be reached for comment while filling this report.
