Police nab wanted cultist, Spartacus, 47 other criminals

The Ogun State Police Command on Wednesday, paraded a notorious cultist, Gbenga Ogunsanya, aka Spartacus and 47 criminal suspects arrested for various offences.

The 23-year-old Abeokuta native was arrested by the anti-robbery special squad of the police, alongside another member of his Aiye cult group, Quam Olubodun.

Gbenga confessed to have killed over nine people between May 2017 when he was initiated and March 2018 when the police arrested him.

Items recovered from him were one pump action gun, one locally made pistol, live cartridges and charms.

Other suspects paraded included Kayode Oreneye, a 27 years old ritualist, who after killing one Shakiru popularly called ‘School boy’ at Ilaro cut off his two palms and sold it for N5000.

Kayode claimed that he killed Shakiru, a member of Aiye confraternity in retaliation for killing three of his own rival cult group, Eiye confraternity.

Also paraded were an ex-convict for armed robbery, Lateef Folarin and one Benjamin Oforitse for snatching at gun point sum of N500,000 from two bank customers near Agbara,Ogun state.

Speaking, the Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Ahmed Ilyasu, whiles seeking more information that would help reduce crime, said all suspects would be charged to court after investigation.

Ilyasu also warned hospitals not to reject any gunshot victim but to admit such people and then report to the police.
